My Endometriosis
Posted in My Thoughts on 11/06/2007 11:29 am by ChasWhen I was 19 years old I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. It started with problems in my kidneys. I had know idea that the link between my kidneys was related.
Unknown to me, I had Endo in and around my colon areas so bad that it blocked my bowel movements and poisoned my kidneys. I then went to my local OB physician for the very first time and there he gave his opinion of what I had but informed me the only way we would actually know is with a laparoscopy surgery.
My first surgery went well but do to the mass of Endo that I had, the surgery was then followed by a hormone suppresent, Lupron. This acted as a menopausal type med that shut my hormone production completely down. After this six month treatment I was hoping a lot would be resolved and that I might actually be able to have children one day.
To make a long story short, I within a 7 year period, had 5 laparoscopy surgeries and had been on Lupron for 2, six month periods. After my second surgery I attempted Invitro Fertilization with no luck. The pain and stress of this disease continued until directly after my 4th surgery. Thirty days after my 4th surgery I tried Invitro again. This time it was a success!! I had a baby boy by way of C-Section and during this process the Endo was removed for the 5th time. The entire process was becoming pretty old.
Just before I turned 28, I had a hysterectomy. This was not something that I wanted but it was something that I needed and I was ready. Almost instantly, I felt a great amount of motivation to be normal, to be active, and to have the life of a 28 year old woman. I feel much comfort in the decision that I made and if this happens to you go completely with how YOU feel because everyone will have an opinion. I know that their are many children that need me, so I am over the baby bearing hurt that I once felt.
If you can relate to this story, it IS hard, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Family, Friends, and the freedom to be you.

I’ve had endo for about 9 years now and the pain has ceased since the two surgeries I had 6 years ago. However, the pain is beginning again, does anyone have a homeopathic method they’ve used to stop the pain.

When I was in high school I was having 15 days then 11 days straight bleeding in one month. I was diagnosis with endometrosis by the time I was 21 years old. I went through birth control, no success, then Lupron injection that had me almost passing out. So, they decrease my Lupron injection that did not work then I receive my first lap. surgery in 93, then I receive the noraplant and surgery in 94 and then 95. After 1995 I was feeling okay for several years. In 2004 I started to have the heavy bleeding and pain and the doctor started Depo-Provera every 10 weeks and it help until June of 2008 when I started having distressing agony from the endometrosis throughout my fallopian tube. Had a partial hysterectomy
in September of 2008 and 3 months later started having the same problems again. Continue to see the doctor about the pain and had a lap. done in June 2009 to let me know that I have adhesions that pushing up my large intestine and have it also on my small bowel. So, now I am in between doctors one who wants to do surgery but without colorectal involve, one who not able because my condition is too intense for his facility to handle, and then the last one who wants me to take physcial therapy and pain management. So I am taking pain medicine over the counter and handling the pain the best I can.

Wow! After reading your post I thought I was reading my own story! I am 20 years old and mine was also diagnosed after I passed my first kidney stone. The pain stayed and that is when an OB/GYN suspected endo, so he scheduled me for emergency surgery and removed all the chocolate cysts. I have also been on lupron, although I could only manage it for 3 months, but recently within the last month the pain has become so bad. I have another surgery scheduled but it won’t be for 6 weeks so I am trying to find a new doctor. Thank you for posting this, most women who have endometriosis cannot have kids and to read your story that you were able to have a child really gives me hope and something to look forward to! Thank you!

Thank you for this blog and your posts. I am 20 years old and a junior in college. Right before sophmore year, when I was 19, I was hospitalized for severe abdominal pain and other symptoms that my doctor wasn’t sure were coming from. I am from a relatively small town in Mississippi and after visits from 4 different doctors who said they had no idea what my pain was, I went to a gynocologist in Memphis who did a laproscopy and discovered my endometriosis. Six months later, in June, I had a second one by Dr. Martin at UT in Memphis and he removed 14 more spots and discovered my right ovary and fallopin tube had become wrapped around my appendix due to my endometriosis. This was one of the reasons for my severe pain. So a few weeks ago, on Sept. 2, I had it all taken out. I am currently recovering, which is part of the reason I’m up at 4 a.m. After reading your blog, I was really encouraged and feel more hopeful because even with your obstacles and challenges, you were able to have a child. I worry every day that by the time I am married and ready to start a family, I won’t be able to conceive because of future endometriosis problems. So thank you for sharing your story and letting me post mine. I think everyone with this problem have something in common that many people don’t understand. We should support each other in positive blogs like this.

I would love if you could write back I am trying to decide whether or not to have the laproscopy done. I am 32 and for the past six months I have had severe abdominal cramping. I went to a gastro doctor and had a colonosopy he said everything looked normal and i probably had ibs or spastic colon i still get the pain every now and then. I am trying to find out if my symptoms fit that of endo. Two weeks before my period i bloat like i am 5-6 months pregnant, i feel like i have alot of pressure in my pelvic area, and also sometimes i will get this stabbing pain sometimes when i walk mostly when i try and sit down my doctor said you know it might be that the only way i will know is to go in and look, but i really don’t want to go through this if my symptoms don’t suggest endo i figured you could help me since you have had it and know the symptoms thank you

To Staci – Have the lap done. It’s pretty non invasive, you’re only uncomfortable for about 5 days. I had 5 surgeries in 6 years, and I always feel better after the surgery, but for me, the endo always came back. Lupron actually worked really well for me, and my last surgery was the only one that showed no new growth. That was 2 years ago, and I’m just now starting to feel like another lap is necessary. The downside to the lupron for me was that I got really bad acne.
Also, to Allie, who says that “most women who have endometriosis cannot have kids” – that is completely untrue, although a common misconception. Almost everyone I know with endometriosis has had children. Some women with endo cannot have children, but many women can. Please don’t post false information, because some people believe whatever they read, regardless of where it comes from. Check your facts first.

I am a father of an Endometriosis infected daughter and felt
hopeless as such until I came accross a medication thats
40+ years old. Wobenzym is a supplement use to boost the
IMMUNE SYSTEM, improve healing in sport injuries and help
cancer patients. My daughter took 6 pills per day (important
to be taken on an empty stomach) for six months, today she is pain free with only one small cyst. Wobenzym can be found over the counter in health suppletment shops.

Hi, I am 27 years old and have been struggling with both endometriosis and ovarian cysts for the last five years. After researching a great deal here is what I’ve found so far:
Bottom line: In a normal body the liver and immune system will function to clean toxins and endometrial cells ending up in locations where they are not supposed to be. Everything we are exposed to today (foods, food containers, air we breath, make-up, deoderant, etc..) is laden with some type of toxin. Quite frankly our bodies are being overloaded with toxins.
The solution – I am going to try to treat my endo and ovarian cysts by helping my liver and immune system. Wish me luck!
